Hi, my name is Rebecca! I’m passionate about business strategy, information visualization, and data analysis.
I work as a strategy analyst at ValuePenguin, a New York based startup helping consumers make better financial decisions. You can check out some of my analysis and visualization work here, here, and here.
Previously, I worked at EY (one of the largest professional services firm in the world) helping companies with implementing better data governance and management strategies. I graduated with a Master’s in Information Management with a specialization in Data Science from the School of Information Studies at Syracuse University in May 2014. Before that, I attended Emory University and received a BA in French Lit and a minor in economics in 2011.
I’ve also been volunteering with an amazing non-profit, New York on Tech (NYOT), for the last two years. NYOT provides mentorship and development opportunities for NYC high school students interested in technology. Students are paired with a tech professional and also participate in technical and professional development workshops as well as site visits to companies such as Pandora. For the past year, I’ve also had the privilege of serving on the Mentorship Council, which plans and oversees all professional development workshops for students.
Outside of work, I love to travel whether it’s a destination half way across the world or one state away. I document all of my adventures on my Instagram account, and I love hearing from others about their travel stories and recommendations. In the past few years, I’ve traveled through New England, Ireland, Puerto Rico, Brazil, and Argentina, and I have plans to travel through Asia in the next few years. Another passion of mine is personal finance, and I’m lucky enough to write on some investing and finance topics in my job.
